SmartWireless and Dust SmartMesh gain FIPS-197 Certification

Emerson’s Smart Wireless solutions using Dust Networks’ SmartMesh IA-510 wireless sensor networking have been certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to meet government Federal Information Processing Standard-197 (FIPS-197) requirements.

The standard mandates advanced encryption technologies and FIPS validation is extraordinarily difficult to gain. Candidate technologies must pass a battery of tests as well as specific review of code by an approved laboratory.

"The harnessing of Dust Networks' SmartMesh IA-510 with Emerson's Smart Wireless products allows us to provide a highly reliable, scalable solution with low power consumption and built-in security," said Nicholas Meyer, Smart Wireless Gateway Manager, Emerson Process Management. "The addition of FIPS-197 certification by NIST confirms that Emerson’s offering is the most secure solution available."

"Data security is critical for many wireless sensing applications. Achieving FIPS-197 certification is part of our ongoing commitment to deliver complete wireless sensor networking solutions," said Brenda Glaze, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Dust Networks.
